Meet Jordan.

Jordan Sharp | MProfPsych

I am a registered psychologist specialising in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, focusing on addressing various mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, school refusal, stress, addictions, and grief & loss. I also have extensive experience assisting individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.

My therapeutic approach blends cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing, all customised to meet the unique needs of my clients. I provide services that include assessment, diagnosis, and recommendations for intellectual disability.

I place a strong emphasis on nurturing a trustworthy therapeutic relationship and creating a non-judgmental environment where clients can comfortably explore and enhance their well-being.

My passion revolves around helping young people, particularly adolescents, navigate life's challenges. I firmly believe that building a strong therapeutic alliance is essential for facilitating positive changes.

For children aged 6-12 experiencing mood or behavioral concerns, I recommend involving parents in the first three sessions. The extent of parental participation in subsequent sessions depends on the child's maturity, the severity of the issues, and the preferences of the parents. In one-on-one sessions, I often include a brief check-in with a parent at the beginning and a review at the end to ensure effective strategies for the home setting.

For young people aged 13 and older with similar concerns, I am flexible about parental involvement but generally suggest parental participation in the initial session. I recognise the importance of nurturing individuality in adolescents, which we discuss and agree upon during the first session.

My approach involves conducting an initial assessment and setting goals in the first few sessions. I typically recommend a course of 6-10 sessions for families, with the possibility of extending the treatment duration for severe mood or behavioral issues.

I primarily operate from a Cognitive-Behavioral framework (CBT) while also incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing.
